these ear plug speakers pretty well shut out any background noise, like your mate telling you something you don't want to hear. ;), The trade off give you fantastic music reproductions. Outstanding quality at a price anyone can afford, frankly din't know how much better the high priced ear plugs would provide. aditionally they insert into the ear channel and are very comfortable to wear. I had the ear bud type that you kind of wedge into your outer ear, after a few minuted, they hurt my ears.This set of earphones are more than adequate, they are extremely good. Recommended

Sound quality was horrible. Build quality was poor. but they were $2 so there is only so much complaining you can do. The mic worked only decently.

I bought this product for two reasons. One to use as a headphone to listen to my music while I am driving and to use as handsfree. It works great as handsfree but if you are a music lover this is not the product.I should not complaint because what you pay what you get.
