4I couldn't have asked for anything more
By M. Harmon
Just over a month ago I ordered these ear buds for my wife; essentially so she would stop stealing mine, which were acquired as a boxed accompaniment to my Motorola Droid R2D2 (MOTA957).She and I are both finicky about the size and style of most ear bud headsets. Many of the models that share this particular type of design have been found irritating to the tragus (that little nub of cartilage in front of the ear canal), with marked soreness after an unreasonably short period of use. Others, we simply find annoying: whether by some flimsy, misshapen ear hanger that refuses to secure the device snugly; or perhaps worse, those gummy/rubber earplugs that violate the ear canal by administering something akin to a perpetual (non)wet-willy. All things considered, you could say that these ear buds meet the "baby bear" test; just right for our (admittedly fussy) comfort and design preferences.Despite the comfort, we're not exactly talking bout a Bose-quality sound device here. I can't necessarily rate the product a 5-star "I love it" for this very point.I will say, however, that for our regular use and purposes, the sound quality is just fine.My wife and I use our headsets in pretty much the same fashion:* Regular use at home and office (perhaps two to three days a week for me, about half as much for her)* About 90% of the time connected to an Android phone - hers a Droid X, mine the aforementioned R2D2 - always as such for listening to MP3s. (I also use them to occasionally plug into my PC workstation through a set of Logitech speakers; here, they get used for web-based media, computer based training modules, etc.)* Sound levels are maintained at reasonable volume, allowing us to hear a phone from a 2-3 feet away and/or a normal greeting from an unnoticed co-worker or guest. After such use for over 6 months, my ear buds still function just as fine as they did out of the box. The same can also be said for my wife's set, although I'll repeat here that hers have only seen about 30 days of ownership. All together, I would categorize this product as worth every penny. Even more, for what we paid at the time ($6.10!?) and our reported standards for use; in my opinion, it was a definitive bargain.I hope this has helped. If anyone has any questions, I'll be happy to respond as soon as possible. Please Note: For what it is worth, I scoured the internet for about an hour trying to produce referable verification to the original model or part number regarding the ear buds that came with the Droid R2D2. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful. I can only confirm by my own visual inspection that side-by-side, apart from color, the ear buds appear to be identical.

4Great bang for the buck
By Levy T. Harrison
I have been on a search for a comfortable, light, reasonably priced earphones (with Mic). Formerly for my Blackberry but now for my new Eris. I have read all the reviews about the top of the line Bose, Shure, and others but finally settled on the Skullcandy Full Metal jackets. They arrived and turned out to be without a mic. They were an older-earlier generation that were Iphone compatible BUT with NO mic. I was slightly chapped but went shopping with wife and told myself just return them on Monday. So, I swing by the Verizon kiosk in the mall and see what goodies I can get for my new Eris and find these Shiny blue earphones hanging behind a holster. I start to look them over and see they are only $24.95 so I assume they are without a mic. But the Verizon guy steps over to see if need help and lets me know that they do have a mic and the price is correct. I ask how long can I try them and he says typical 30 days, so I told him to bill me out. I put them on there in the mall while my wife shopped. I was STOKED! The sound while not real bassy was definitely thumping with some Mike Jones on Pandora and sounded super clean. The cord is plastic coated which I do not like but the length is perfect and the mic is so sweet. It is so small yet does such a great job. Everyone I called said I sounded clear with minimal background noise. And you press the the tiny Moto logo to activate the mute which is not really a button just an area on the mic that kinda gives a little. Super cool. I gave these a 4 star rating and the only thing I would change is the cord to a metal foiled one.

2One big problem...
By Jason
I've been using these headphones for about 6 months now. The sound quality is good and I can talk on the headset with no problem. There is just one problem. As you can tell from the picture, when plugged in the connector sticks straight out of the jack. This causes the cord to be bent at a sharp angle if the phone is in your pocket or pressing against something. Even from the time I first bought it, I would lose connectivity if the cord was bent at this point or if I'd fiddle with it. I always try to ensure that the phone is vertical in my pocket. As long as the cord was straight, I would not have any problems. I was able to do this by and large without any problems for 6 months. However, this week I've had intermittent connectivity even when it was straight. I know where the problem is because I need to constantly fiddle with the cord and apply varying degrees of pressure to get it to work properly. I only use it when walking to and from work (about 25 mins each way) and I already need to buy a new one. This is very unfortunate, since it seems that if the connector was L-shaped, it would be much more flexible and hence this problem could be more easily avoided. Or the design could be the same but with better reinforcement and support. As I said, everything else is good, but a product is only as good as its weakest link. I guess I was able to get my money's worth since it is relatively inexpensive and worked well for 6 months, but it bothers me since this could've been fixed so easily.
